Kelly Murphy, CFRE

Kelly Murphy brings a diverse background as Consultant at Mather Associates, a New England based consulting firm specializing in leadership, organizational development and constructive change for corporate, nonprofit and municipal organizations.

Over the last 24 years, she has enjoyed a unique and challenging career in freelance and grant writing, philanthropy development, executive director-level management and nonprofit consulting. Each role has influenced and contributed to her comprehensive and down-to-earth approach to relationship building, be it for program marketing, nonprofit auditing, organizational change, or community engagement.

Kelly truly understands all aspects of fund development, from a coordinator’s role juggling day to day responsibilities to strategic diversification and management of funds at the executive and board level. As an internationally-accredited Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), clients can be assured of Kelly’s guidance, based upon ethical and responsible fund raising practices. Her grant writing skills have resulted in successful applications from federal, state, local and private funders.

Her experiences as executive director of United Way of Sullivan County and interim executive director of Greater Claremont Chamber of Commerce have provided keen insight into the challenges and opportunities facing today’s small nonprofits, from funding, resource and program development to re-accreditation, strategic planning and board development.

As director of marketing, philanthropy and community relations for Valley Regional Hospital, a Critical Access facility serving Sullivan County, New Hampshire, Kelly navigated the continually shifting needs of federal and state funded healthcare in an environment of shrinking resources. Her experience includes lean training, State of New Hampshire Community Benefit planning and reporting, community assessments, facilitation, and philanthropy, grant writing, capital campaign development, and marketing for community engagement.

Kelly holds an associate’s degree in business from Husson University in Maine, bachelor’s degree in history and English from College of St. Joseph in Vermont, and nonprofit management certificate.  In addition to a busy family life with her husband and four children in Ascutney, Vermont, Kelly serves as chair of the Weathersfield School Board and chair of the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union, and she is board secretary of the Sullivan County Oral Health Collaborative in New Hampshire. Prior board activities also include founding chair of the Sullivan County Substance Abuse Coalition and chair of the Claremont Soup Kitchen ED Search Committee.
